Central Christian once again entered a float in the patriotic Highland Park Fourth of July Parade. We had two large trailers filled with plenty of our members, friends and family. Rideship was open to anyone who wanted to join us!
The parade itself kicked off at 9 a.m. but had our float at the assembly point beginning at the Highland Park Town Hall at 6:20 a.m.
The parade begin at the Highland Park Town Hall and travel west on Euclid Avenue to Highland Drive and then north to Beverly Drive. It continued west on Beverly and turn north on Preston Road to University Boulevard. The Parade then travel east on University to Hunters Glen where it turned northeast to Turtle Creek Boulevard to its end on the north side of Goar Park.
If you participated last year, you know it was loads of fun. To see our parade last year (2006), watch our Windows Media movie (high-resolution version 512 kbps or the low-resolution version 45 kbps).

New for both us and the parade, volunteers of the church served a free "tail gate breakfast" to the other float crews that line up early too. These crews often line up and wait up to three hours before the parade begins so they get a good place in line. The breakfast was will appreciated and an excellent ministry of the church. The breakfast was prepared by the wonderful bakery at Bread Winners Cafe and served by members of the church and volunteers. We started serving about 6:45 a.m. and served until the paraded started at 9 a.m.

Like last year, people riding with us in the parade tossed large Milk Bone dog biscuits as a float gift for all of the dogs along the parade route. These were a big hit last year. Each dog biscuit was be tied with an advertisement promoting our upcoming production of the Westside Player, "Joyful Noise", (directed by Ed DeLatte & presented by the Westside Players, Aug. 10th-12th, with a concurrent Art show).
