Art Show
Welcome to Central's celebration of the arts! From August 5-19 in Fellowship Hall, we will exhibit the work of four artists related to the church. Tina Weger, Crystal Kreitzer and Alice Oates are all members and Tim Ninesling's wife, Laura, is our church secretary.
Central is blessed to have members so gifted theatrically and artistically.
On August 10th and 11th the Art Show will run concurrently with the Westside Players production of "Joyful Noise," a play about Handel and his music. Come to the play then browse and enjoy. Their art is a gift from God and we are grateful to each for adding to our "joyful noise" experience.” The Art Show will be available for unrestricted viewing prior to the play, at intermission and after the play. To add enjoyment to your evening or matinee, please arrive early to enjoy these four local artists. Refreshments will be served. Suggested arrival time would be for Friday August 10th and Saturday August 11th, by 7:30pm., Sunday August 12th, by 1:30pm.
Other times available to see the are will be 10am-2pm, Monday Through Friday.
Tina Weger
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t involved in producing some kind of art or music. I tried making pottery once, but the silly piece blew up in the kiln, destroying the work of other, better artists, which did not make me the most popular kid in class. I quickly discovered my strength was in 2D art: painting and drawing, and since paintings don’t often explode I figured it was a good fit for me.
I started painting in watercolor and acrylics at the age of twelve. When I ran out of paper or canvas, I painted on the back of old rolls of wallpaper. When that ran out I painted on the back of my bedroom door. I was lucky to have parents that liked my artwork.
In the early 90’s I started experimenting with digital art, combining my love of photography with a new fangled computer program called Adobe Photoshop. Before leaving California for Dallas in 2005 I taught classes at The College of San Mateo in digital photo retouching, and photo restoration.
I am inspired by the ridiculous. The sillier it is, the better. I love the idea that something can appear very important, but actually be pointless. The world is a very serious place and I feel it is my duty to do what I can to change that…one piece of artwork at a time.
Tim Ninesling
Timothy Ninesling is an oil painter specializing in Texas landscapes. He originally studied with his father, an architect, who taught him at an early age the basic principles of design, drawing and painting. In later years he studied at different times with two artists, Karel Dupre and Sol La Rosa, both from Miami, Florida. Upon moving to Dallas in 1995, Tim spent two years in commercial art, followed by 4 years designing furniture. In 2001 he went back to oil painting and has practiced uninterruptedly for the past 6 years, showing work through several Texas venues.
Alice Oates
“A thing of beauty is a joy forever.” – Keats
This bit of poetry captures Alice’s feelings regarding all the beautiful things of nature that God put on earth for the enjoyment and enrichment of our lives.
Alice has a passionate love of flowers, and has traveled all over the world painting them. She has studied art with renowned artist, Joyce Pike, who is listed in Who’s Who of American Artists. Alice has also studied with numerous other professional artists in Nantucket, Maine, Colorado, Washington, South Carolina, Connecticut, Oregon and Pennsylvania.
She has held four one-woman art shows, and won numerous awards through the years. In 2001 she won a Special Award for Artist with Best Use of Color at the Irving Art Center. Some of her paintings hang at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Central Christian Church as well as many private collections throughout Texas, Colorado and Illinois.
When Alice was 30, she was diagnosed with cancer, and it changed her life for the better. She had always dreamed of painting when she was old and gray sitting by the fire. With this illness she realized she might miss learning to paint if she waited. She began art lessons. “It was total joy from the first moment I dipped my brush into the paint,” says Alice. “I loved it instantly and still experience that same thrill when brush hits canvas.” Alice has been painting for more than 30 years. She teaches private art lessons in her home studio in Dallas. Alice began selling her work in the early 1990’s, and has sold over 100 paintings.
Crystal Kreitzer

WHAT I DO IN "REAL LIFE"- I am the Supervisor of Design and Graphic Services for the Dallas Public Library. I work downtown at the J. Erik Johsson Public Library.
HOW LONG I'VE BEEN PAINTING - Forever - Since I got my painting set for Christmas, sometime back in grade school. It included pots of tempera paint, lots of brushes, a big pad of newprint and an easel. I've progressed to Oil and Acrylic, as well as learning etching and lithography in college, and experimenting with collage. I work a lot now in pen and ink.
WHAT INSPIRES ME- Music, Love, Patterns, Shapes (also known as seeing the world through nearsighted eyes!), my Cats (although that may come under the Love catagory), Special Events such as weddings (my own and others) ... actually, what doesn't inspire me?!
