Fleur-de-Lis Symbols in the Chapel
The stars in the north window pick up on the Christmas theme. As a symbol of the Trinity, the fleur de lis affirms that Jesus Christ is God in a human person. The candles are a sign that where Jesus is, God is present. The lighted candles are signs of God’s presence, and assure us that God is listening when we pray and speaking when we meditate on Scripture. The flower on the candle sticks on the communion table are Roses of Sharon, used in. Isaiah 35:1-2 as a symbol for the lushness of the promised Kingdom of God. The Rose of Sharon became a symbol for Jesus’ promised return to restore all of creation.
