State of the Church Address
In a highly-choreographed 90-minute presentation involving the participation of almost 50 other people, General Minister Sharon Watkins offered a positive assessment of the current state of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The address was delivered on Sunday evening to approximately 5,000 Disciples.
2007 General Assembly
Reverend Watkins' theme of the address was to “choose life.” Watkins said, "To paraphrase Mark Twain, the rumors of our demise are greatly exaggerated. There’s more to the story than we’ve been telling”
Through her address Rev. Watkins repeated her general theme, "Disciples! Let’s choose life!”
