Once the ground of the garden was prepared, the next work phase was to prepare each of the 4' x 24' garden plots. This work too was performed by volunteers from the church.

4' x 24' boxes for the raised garden plots were constructed from untreated 2" x 6" cedar lumber.

All of the wood chips were scraped back (and saved for later use), the cedar boxes sited in the garden and the native soil prepared with the use of an air-spade.

The cedar boxes were then filled with a mixture of top soil and compost. Next, the spaces between the cedar boxes were then dressed with the reserved wood chips to provide walkways for people to use when working their garden plots.
