John serves Central Christian Church of Dallas, Texas, as “Minister at Large.” His job is to provide “Resources and Encouragement for Adult Christian Education.” He does this by teaching in various churches on Sunday mornings and during the week.
John’s blog deals with Bible translation, interpretation, and application, plus whatever else he decides to write about.
John is a native Dallasite and Texan, a graduate of Rice, Texas Christian, and Pacific Western Universities. He served as a pastor in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for twenty years, serving congregations in Pilot Point, Weatherford, Houston, Lake Jackson, and Dallas, all in Texas. Since 2005, he has been working as a writer.
John is currently involved in translating the Old Testament from the Latin Vulgate into contemporary English. He is passionate about God’s Word, believing it speaks directly to us today. His ministry is concerned to bring the Word to the broken, trembling heart of humanity, in whatever way God gives him strength to do so.
Married to the former Rocio Lizarazo of Colombia, South America, John is the father of four children. He is a life-long member of Central Christian Church in Dallas, where he now serves as volunteer “Minister at large.”
