Meet the Members of Central Christian Church

Everyone’s journey with God is individual, unique. Most people do not experience dramatic conversions but recognize that God is working with them on a personal basis. One of the delights of life in a Christian community is sharing each other’s journeys. Some of the people of Central Christian Church in Dallas tell about their spiritual journeys in these video interviews. As you watch and listen you may be inspired, have questions or even discover something new about your own journey.

Church members BJ Austin and Bill Anderton have produced these video interviews since the summer of 2008.

BJ Austin
BJ Austin has been a member of Central Christian Church since 1995. She is the Chairperson of the Elders of the church, a member of the Westside Players and the Chancel Choir.

BJ's faith story is typical in most respects ... except one:  it was a solitary, silent, dialogue in her head for more than 25 years until she found the joy of being part of a community of faith.

ed_delatte_150w.jpg

Ed DeLatte
Ed DeLatte has been a member of Central Christian Church since 1960. He is an Ordainted Elder of the church, Director of the Westside Players and has held many of the leadership positions within the church.

Ed DeLatte's grandmother took him to church as a young boy, but when he was a young man, a serendipitous invitation to sing tenor in a church choir launched a life's journey with God, music and theatre.

russell_church_150w.jpg

Russell Church
Russell Church has been a member of Central Christian Church since 2001. He is a past President of the Board of Directors of the church and is a newly elected Voting Elder awaiting ordination.

Russell Church's faith journey has taken him from pole to pole -- acolyte to atheist (for a short while). His search for meaning and fulfillment brought him back to church, and a faith community.

grace_anne_crank_150w.jpg

Grace Anne Crank
Grace Anne Crank has been a member of Central Christian Church since 1987. She is a past President of the Board of Directors of the church and is a current Voting Elder.

Grace Anne Crank grew up in church, but church on Sunday is NOT just a routine.  Grace Anne "walks the walk", not merely "talks the talk" on a single day of the week. Life has handed her some hard knocks, but she's managed to seek and see God -- even through anger and tears.  Recently Grace Anne was bold enough to turbo-charge her faith journey by completing the "Walk to Emmaus" program.

crystal_kreitzer_150w.jpg

Crystal Kreitzer
Crystal Kreitzer has been a member of Central Christian Church since 1981. She just finished a three-year term as a Voting Elder of the church and is an Ordained Elder.

Crystal Kreitzer's life of ups and downs has had one constant: God.  After her parents divorce and hard financial times when she was a young girl, Crystal found God's love displayed in members of her small church, one in particular.  Years later, a tumble into a long stretch of unemployment called for faith, patience and choosing every day "to believe."

mike_bowden_150w.jpg

Mike Bowden
Mike Bowden has been a member of Central Christian Church since 2000. He has served in several leadership capacities of the church including his current office as Head Deacon.

Mike Bowden grew up going to Sunday School and church.  But he became disillusioned with it about the time he left home for college.  He dropped out of "church" for several years.  But, there was something missing.  Something tugged at him to move toward a more spiritual life.  He felt compelled to try to reconnect with God. And, he found some soul-mates at Central Christian Church."

Prayer and Faith Sharing
To expand our current personal testimonies of the personal faith journies of some of our members (shown in the articles above), we also have addition faith sharing-media from our congregation-wide study, Unbinding Your Heart: Prayer and Faith Sharing, which encouraged intentional conversation about Jesus as a spiritual discipline for Lent 2008. The highlights of each Sunday’s worship celebration were interviews by Pastors Stolpe and Boddy in which people told of their experiences of sharing their faith in the context of their personal settings. These interviews came in the middle of Pastor Stolpe’s worship messages. These messages and inspiring interviews are available for your listening:
