The involvement of Central Christian Church in the global mission of the Church expresses our mission of inviting our neighbors near and far to a life of faith in Jesus Christ. In this way we contribute to the mission of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to be and share the Good News of Jesus Christ, witnessing, loving and serving from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth.

We have chosen to focus our attention in a couple of specific areas of the world where we can have direct personal involvement and understand these neighbors who are farther from our doorstep.

First is the Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries based in Los Fresnos, Texas. Part of this ministry serves refugees and immigrants from Latin America who are seeking protection from danger and oppression. It also operates an orphanage in Matamoros, Mexico and a variety of social services (medicine, food, housing) for a poor community in Matamoros. This ministry also serves poor people in the Rio Grande Valley with food and other assistance. Mike’s Kids gathers toys, clothing and other gifts for children in the Rio Grande Valley at Christmas.

Second is the ministry of the Thai Christian Foundation and the Christian Communication Institute in Thailand, supporting the evangelistic and outreach ministries of the Church there. One important aspect of this is the touring dance troupe that presents the Gospel of Jesus Christ with traditional Thai artistry.

Closely related is the ministry of the Free Burma Rangers who bring relief and encouragement to the oppressed ethnic minorities of Burma.
