Nesting a New Church
Perhaps you have seen some of the signs for “Vision Mundial Para La Familia” around Central Christian Church. This is the name of a new Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregation which means “World Vision for the Family.” You can see their website at www.vmfusa.org. They worship on Sunday afternoons and have Bible study and prayer on Wednesday evenings in the Chapel. Their motto is “Dios es más grande que tu problema” which means “God is much greater than your problem.”
Angelo and Vanessa Pavesio are the husband and wife pastor team for this congregation. They are from Chile and have two delightful children. Sometimes Pastor Angelo will be using the library or an empty classroom to study or meet people. He meets weekly with our Pastor Stolpe and attends our staff’s Wednesday afternoon meetings.
We have invited people from “Vision Mundial Para La Familia” to participate in our Fellowship Time bringing treats to share and getting acquainted with us. Many of them speak English (especially younger people and children) or are learning English and are happy to converse with us. They worship in Spanish and are reaching out to Spanish speaking people in Dallas with the Gospel of Jesus. Part of their vision for ministry is helping immigrants for a number of Latin American countries, especially South America, learn how to assimilate into the life and society of the United States at the same time they experience the grace and love of Jesus.
As part of the family of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the North Texas Area, Central Christian Church has agreed to “nest” this new congregation. Area Minister Larry Ross has been an active participant in developing this relationship. “Nesting” is a ministry of guidance, support and encouragement for new congregations. Nesting congregations offer practical assistance and a financial contribution to the host congregation. Host congregations also often receive inspiration from the new congregation. The web site of “Vision Mundial Para La Familia” has prominent links to the web site of Central Christian Church.
