Plain Old Names
I have been doing the daily prayer exercises in "Unbinding Your Heart." When I came to Week 2: Thursday (page 129)and the list of names, I was brought to a greater appreciation of one of my standard disciplines. That is, I pray for the people listed on one page of the church directory each day. I had just done that for today (February 22) when I got to the "Plain Old Names" prayer exercise. As I sat with the directory in my lap, per the instructions, I did have a fresh and powerful sense of God presence and protection for the people of our congregation and another affirmation of my conviction that praying for each other is the most important thing we can do for our church.
