Live Hope Group Ministries
Our Live Hope Group Ministries (small group ministries) offer several different approaches to Christian spirituality and growth. We have groups which meet morning, night, in homes, church or online, with all ages and backgrounds. They all are characterized by genuine fellowship, caring community, and a sense of life purpose. The only person missing might be you. Growth groups are one of the best ways to discover God’s will by interacting with others on the same journey.
Meeting time: Every Wednesday, 7:00-8:00 PM
Place: the home of John & Rocio Cunyus, Lakewood Area
Study or theme: Song of Solomon
Contact John Cunyus: 214-662-5494 or by email, john@johncunyus.com
We study books of the Bible in depth, especially observing the language, and literary genre. John our leader is very knowledgeable and a published author on the subjects of interpretation and comparative religions, and he still keeps his sense of humor. We are working our way through the Wisdom literature of the Old Testament: Job, Proverbs, and the Song of Solomon are next.
Meeting time: 2nd and 4th Tuesday, 7:00 PM
Place: the home of Wendell & Suzie Patterson, Lemmon and Toll Way
Study or theme: Prayer
Contact: B. J. Austin (903-386-5834)
We have looked at the Lord's Prayer line by line. Now we are examining historical prayers and their context and their meaning in our lives.
We follow the Dietrich Bonheoffer observation that "laughter precedes prayer". When we meet we share what is going on in our personal lives, what is bugging us, what we are excited and thankful for. Then we develop a prayer list which can be general to intensively personal. Then we are lead in prayer by one of Central Christian's great prayer saints . . .B.J. Austin.
We also occasionally take on a service project. …..like polishing the
Communion table silver, for example. Occasionally, we bring food and have a small feast. We always have cookies and French lemonade. We all really do look forward to this. It is important to us. It is fun. It is quite meaningful.
Meeting time: 1st and 3rd Tuesday, 7:00—9:00 PM

Contact: Candy Stolpe (214.902.8127)
We consist of couples as well as individuals without their spouses. We have a mix of people, some with a lot of Bible knowledge, (including our pastor Norm), to those with relatively little knowledge. We’ll begin this fall using Phillip Yancey’s book and study materials which focus on the role of pain in God's plan for life and how we can respond to it. Call, order your copy, and journey along.

Study or theme: the Life of Jesus through the Gospel of Mark
Contact: Todd Boddy (972.547.0465)
Come and join us this fall as we continue the exciting series on the life of Jesus of Nazareth. We use online power point, chat, and phone bridge. We will travel with Jesus from his early ministry of preaching the Kingdom, healing and casting out of demons, to his final week in Jerusalem. Along the way we will examine the mysterious identity of Jesus, whose teaching, authority, and self proclaimed titles make him a high candidate for pushing us to the brink of a decision: Was he Lord, Liar, or Lunatic?
This study may challenge what we have believed about the religion and spirituality God desires as Jesus confronts the established institutions and theology of his day. There is never a dull or unpractical moment in the gospel of Mark, as we ask, “What if God were one of us?”
The small group ministry is known as Live Hope Groups.
