Faith Sharing Interview - March 2 - Wendell Patterson

Wendell has a vision for touching the lives of the neighbors of Central Christian Church that inspired the distributing of invitations to prayer with the carillon bells last Advent and to join in acts of kindness this Lent. Both Wendell and Suzie are Central Christian Church deacons and active in small groups that focus on prayer.

His wife Suzie started the Whimsey Shoppe in 1989, and in 1992 Wendell joined with her in that venture when they began to import directly from France. Now the shop is one of the largest importers of French country antiques in the United States. The Pattersons travel about 15,000 miles each year inside France.

Before the Whimsey Shoppe, Wendell’s career included Army counterintelligence, public relations with the Bloom Agency and real estate that included the doubling the size of Old City Park for the Meadows Foundation and the City of Dallas and the assemblage of “the Wilson Block” area on lower Swiss Avenue for the Meadows Foundation.

Wendell’s civic activities have included City of Dallas Urban Rehabilitation Standards Board, City of Dallas Health and Human Services Commission, Dallas County Central Appraisal District Board of Adjustment, the Oak Lawn Forum, The Oak Lawn Committee and Help Is Possible, a long-term residential drug treatment program
