Welcome To The Mini-Site Home Page for the Westside Café and Worship

Do you need another approach to Bible study and meaningful wisdom for your life? You are invited to the Bible Teaching Ministry of the West Side Café. The Reverends Todd Boddy and John Cunyus will take an in-depth, relevant look at the Bible.  They will put the text in context; teach enough background for you to understand it, and then just focus on the Word. Left, right, old, young, near, far, they invite you to join them for their study of scripture. It is fast paced, in depth, and strong on application. Become part of the deep conversation as the Spirit speaks through the scriptures.

Westside Café Blog

The great opportunity of all Christians is to know the Word of God.  The saddest part of contemporary Christianity is that so many people squander their chance to do this. Let’s look at a comparison.  After hundreds of years of inbreeding, domestic turkeys (the kind raised on farms) aren’t the most intelligent animals.  In fact, they’re so dumb that farmers have to take special precautions with them.

Apparently, unless a farmer puts the turkey’s head directly onto its food, the turkey won’t see it.  These birds can starve to death surrounded by mountains of food. People of faith, unfortunately, tend to be like turkeys.  We are surrounded with the most amazing food – the Word of the living God. How many of us starve to death spiritually, in spite of this?

Westside Café is dedicated to helping people feast on the riches of God’s Word. Don’t be turkey!  Eat the spiritual bread that is spread before you in God’s Bible.

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14-15.

“Till I come, attend to the public reading of scripture, to preaching, to teaching,”  1 Timothy 4:13.

The Christmas Special, "Why Mary?
Originally we planned on just presenting a straight forward birth narrative of Jesus from the N.T. However I thought it might attract more interest to listeners if I could manage to try and fill in a few blanks about Mary's feelings toward raising Jesus without being sacrilegious in any way toward her.

And the Number One Sin on the Count Down Is?
A more culturally relative Ten Commandment countdown list could look like this under the heading “the ten things most people agree on which hack God off, and if not, they sure do me!”

What Does a Bible Translator Believe?
I believe in the difference between right and wrong, between truth and a lie. We know that difference, however basically. We ate the fruit of that tree in the Garden of Eden.
