Episode 50 - Deuteronomy 10 - Circumcision of the Heart
Much of Moses words encourage the people to go beyond the letter of the law in their relationship with God. In an interesting choice of words they are admonished to “circumcise the foreskin of their heart” as a call to walk in faith as did Abraham.

Episode 49 - Deuteronomy 27 and 28 - Blessings and Curses on Lent
Moses declared the tribes were to assemble between Mt. Ebal and Mt. Gerimzim as they entered the promised land. Gathering by tribes at the base of each Mountain, the people were to recite the blessings and curses of  the Lord. This episode was recorded during the Ash Wednesday service at Central Christian, Dallas.

Episode 48 - Deuteronomy 10, Genesis 2-3 - Detour Down Eden Lane
Is there a subtext for Moses theology? What key narratives does he take for granted as he prepares the Israelites to enter the promised land. One of  these is most probably the story of the original temptation and fall of Adam and Eve.  A rabbit path worth going down.

Episode 47 - Deuteronomy 9 - Facing Your Fears, the Anakites!
The Israelites are about to face the proverbial giants whom their forbearers had cringed in fear from forty years earlier. Moses recounts his own sacrificial leadership in facing the devouring fire of the Lord. The same force of God’s Spirit goes before us today.

When Jesus was tested by Satan  in the desert, he responded in humility, faith, and with these words of Moses, “Humankind  shall not live on bread alone, but on every word which precedes from the mouth of God”. When testing comes, will God provide the manna you need?

Do you treat God as a business consultant or the Lord? Moses leaves no doubt that we serve one who leads before us who’s only interest is in being God. We worship, obey, and love Him, knowing God is faithful and keeps his covenant promises, even dismissing our enemies and giving us the ability to bless others.

Episode 44 - Deuteronomy 7:1-11 - Holy War in Canaan
What were Moses’ people thinking when they heard,  "you must utterly annihilate the Canaanites" as a preface to reclaiming Abraham’s promised land? The Lord commits to go before his people and fight on their behalf if they  follow through in driving out those people and things devoted to destruction. This holy war may be picture of things to come.
